I did this yesterday and spoke some of my thoughts on whether or not you should be “Full Time or Part Time in the buying/selling business,” and what that even means. Also talked about Best Buy closing down stores, and some other things regarding my business and whatnot.

I want to randomly throw one together from time to time. Another fun little side project for 2013. More to come.

Hope you are all having an amazing day!

“Facts about Warren Buffet

1) Warren bought his first share at age 11
and he now regrets that he started too late!
2) He bought a small farm at age 14 with
savings from delivering newspapers.
3) He still lives in the same small 3
bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that
he bought after he got married 50 years
ago. He says that he has everything he
needs in that house.
4) He drives his own car everywhere and
does not have a driver or security people

5) He never travels by private jet, although
he owns the world’s largest private jet

6) His company, Berkshire Hathaway,
owns 63 companies. He writes only one
letter each year to the CEOs of these
companies, giving them goals for the year.
He never holds meetings or calls them on a
regular basis.
7) Warren Buffet has given his CEO’s only
two rules.
Rule number 1: Do not lose any of your

Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number

8) He does not socialize with the high

9) Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met

But when Gates met him, the meeting
lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became
a devotee of Warren Buffet.
10) Warren Buffet does not carry a cell

GOOD DAY! & One Month of Every Day Blogging in 2013 is Complete!

How’s it going everyone?!

I had a great day today with my Mom going into my one booth at Roller Mills Antiques and refreshing the booth.  Also shopping around Lewisburg a bit, having dinner, and looking around other thrift/junk shops.  Now I’m home, relaxing the rest of the evening after posting this, and getting ready to possibly hit an auction tomorrow!  Just looked at the pictures for the one I was most excited for, and nothing really to phone home about.  Perhaps I will find a different one.  Regardless beforehand I have to go pay my rents at my booths at Plaza Centre & Big Valley.  Should be a fun morning!

Also since today is the 31st and end of January, that makes me one month down on my goal of blogging EVERY day here on BrentOtt.com… it’s been fun so far! Lots of ideas yet to make happen!

I figured I’d leave you with some cell phone shots of some recent things I’ve been finding/thought were cool… ENJOY!  I’ll check back in tomorrow morning, or after my day of travel.  HAPPY FEBRUARY!

GREAT DAY In The Co-Ops!

What’s happening everyone?  First off hope that you are all doing well.  I spent the day working in two of my co-op booths/antique mall booths.  I worked on my booth at Big Valley Antiques in Milroy, PA as well as my booth at Plaza Centre Antiques in Bellefonte, PA.  Took in some fresh merchandise, switched some things between the booths, and changed things around in general.  Always leads to a nice little bump in sales when I spend the day doing just that.

Within the next few days/week I need to get into my final booth, at Roller Mills Antiques in Lewisburg, PA, and do a nice little “fresh up” there as well.  I’m also looking to get some new shelves/display cases into all three locations within the coming weeks and months.  2013 is another year of growth!

ROLLERMILLSadTonight I’m going to spend relaxing with the girlfriend, AND getting a little bit of office work accomplished (as I can without getting in trouble!).  Tomorrow is going to be a HUGE office day for me.  Lots of email to respond to/send, tagging to get done, photographs to take, listing to hopefully accomplish, consultations to participate in, and get ready to be out BUYING strong this weekend!!!!!

If I don’t get into Roller Mills beforehand, next Thursday (my regular co-op day) will be kicking off with a Roller Mills trip to unload fresh finds & refresh the booth!  I love what I do!

Oh, and have I mentioned that I’m getting a new camera this weekend? THIS is going to be fun!

How Am I Feeling Today??! Hmmm, This Blog Post Should Be Good!

Sometimes in life we get caught up.  Caught up in something fun, in something which gets us exposure on a variety of levels, or even just simply caught up in life’s daily happenings.  It takes true skill to be able to take the time to sit back, and really see what is going on in a grander scale, which is extremely crucial to your overall success.

The first point I want to make in today’s blog, is no matter WHAT you are doing business-wise, you need to remember to follow the money.  As you get into different avenues, whether retail-related, sources of advertising revenues, or whatever the case, you truly need to closely track them and see what is working, and what isn’t.  It’s very easy to be stubborn and stick with something because you ENJOY doing it, and not necessarily because it is making money.  What is the point of putting your full effort into something if you’re not cashing in on it, or at least working towards the goals of cashing in on it?

I am not afraid to fail, which is the main reason which I constantly try new things.  It’s my strong opinion that most people are scared to death to fail, which is why they will never truly succeed.

YouTubeTROLLAnother big thing on my mind today are “haters” and “trolls,” which show up in a variety of places such as YouTube, Facebook comments, ALL over Social Media and the Internet.  It’s an absolute waste of time and it’s honestly funny to me how someone can spend the time bashing someone else’s success/project or whatever the case, and they don’t realize that they themselves are getting NOTHING accomplished in the meanwhile.

Is it alright for someone to bash someone else in an attempt to gain their audience or grow their own brand?  In my opinion absolutely not, and it’s not a practice I would ever be a part of, but the World is filled with those who do that exact same thing.  My best advice to give you all right now is just simply continue to be yourself, continue to put out content that YOU are proud of, and constantly grow.  Don’t be afraid to try new things and fail. Don’t worry about what the “haters” are saying.  Simply wake up each and every day and try your best to reach your dreams, without becoming a negative force which eats at others who have achieved some of the success you desire.

If only the World were this simple…

I am in a good mood right now, for those wondering, just a lot on my plate right now and dealing with some childish antics, but I feel that I’m above giving any other response other than this little opinion-filled blog post.  Hope you were able to grab something useful out of it!

Enjoy your day, reach for your dreams, and hopefully you get THAT much closer to grabbing them.  Don’t stress any negative doubters, haters, or ANY of the above!  Never forget that the only person who knows where you are going, or has any of idea of where you may be going, is YOU.

Kicking It Old School This Week! EXCLUSIVE NEW Episodes of “Picking” Here on BrentOtt.com!

What’s going on guys?!? First and foremost, I just wanted to let you all know that my auction day yesterday was an absolute WIN.  I actually only ended up going to the first of the two I had planned, simply because the first ended up being such a great auction, and also I ended up being there from about 1 PM EST until about 9 PM EST!  Crazy day! Put this auction in my short list of favorites for sure.

I got so much stuff that my week ahead is going to be super busy processing for eBay, Etsy, and all three of my co-op booths.  However I am so excited that the work almost seems like nothing compared to the money I’m going to be making!  The funny thing about this business, and just simply working for yourself in general, is that even when you work 100+ hours per week it never really seems like it.  I absolutely love what I do for a living!

Honestly, not to brag or anything, but getting out to this auction yesterday just made me realize how good I am at what I do.  I have been full-time now for over two years and I continue to see myself grow.  My eye is way more trained than it was when I began.  The thing is, it will continue to get better and better.  As is the case with anything, the more effort, time, and passion you put into what you do, the better you will become.

PICKINGlogoBACKSPLASHNEW2012_2updateJUNE2012I am in-the-trenches right now working on “Project X,” as well as other side projects coming in 2013, but for this week only (at least for now) I’ve decided to kick it “old school” and put out exclusive episodes of “Picking” right here on BrentOtt.com!  These will be unlisted YouTube videos, which EVENTUALLY I may make “public” on YouTube, but I thought it would be fun to do this!  I get a lot of email, comments, and other messages asking to showcase more hauls.  This week I am answering that request and doing so strong with these several new episodes.  For me 2013 is a year of several things.  First off, I am of course growing the entertainment and content end of my website/company, but at the same time I am focusing heavily on growing the retail end as well.  There are a lot of people who talk. I myself am a talker.  But if you truly deserve to have the RIGHT to talk and entertain, you must still be able to prove that you can DO.  Believe me you, I STILL know how to make things happen!

The fact that these episodes will only be seen by a smaller audience, and the ones who truly appreciate what it is I do, really means a lot to me.  I hope you guys enjoy seeing what I have NEVER stopped doing these last few months, and also enjoy seeing how my buying skills have changed and grown.  2013 will be a year of growth for “Trash Talk & Treasures,” “Project X,” BrentOtt.com, OUnitProductions.com, EVERYTHING I do.  It will however be a year of MUCH more doing, and less saying, or “talking about.”  It’s time to crush it on an entire new level!

Enjoy the episode and LEAVE SOME COMMENTS! Either on the video itself or in the comments below!

Bubbling Below The Radar, and STILL Making It Happen!

Good morning folks!

AUCTIONimageI had visions of putting together a few different blogs this morning, however something came up last minute.  I’m going to be hitting the road and heading to two different auctions.  I havn’t been on the “auction trail” too much recently, so I’m extremely excited.  Sometimes in life you just have to take chances, sometimes you just need to simply PROVE to yourself that you can STILL make it happen, even if you already KNOW the answer to that is OF COURSE you can!  I should be able to share my more detailed thoughts with you right here in this blog this weekend!

STAY TUNED!

I Realize This Won’t Be My Most Popular Blog Ever, And I’m Fine With That! Stop Wasting Your Time!

To me it seems people are just completely full of contradictions! Some may say how they don’t have time to get things done, but that same person will later say how it’s “time to watch the game,” or how they’re either doing great or not so great in their “Fantasty Sports” league.  I mean really, fantasy sports? What are we, twelve years old?

It is no hidden fact that I simply don’t care whatsoever for sports.  If you ask me sports are a great way to get exercise, but what is the point of watching them?  You have people out there that know the names of each quarterback for each team, can tell you how many yards some running back ran the last few seasons, but don’t get why they aren’t reaching their goals or don’t have the time to grow their business.  It’s almost unbelievable to me!

GETABRAIN

I’m not just going to single out sports fans, but I see a lot of other ways which people are wasting their time as well.  First and foremost, cable and movies!  It has now been several years since I cancelled my cable and I have never looked back.  With the Internet these days you can search and find pretty much ANYTHING you want to watch, at no additional cost other than paying for your Internet service.  For example shows on NBC, CBS, History Channel, Comedy Central, and others can all be found on their website.  During the shows advertisements are shown, but MANY less than you see on cable!  Some may argue that you have to watch it on your laptop or desktop, but simply not true these days!  You can hook it up to your HDTV with an HDMI cable and it’s the same experience, actually, I believe it’s much better! Can’t afford an HDTV or an HDMI cable? You will be able to if you don’t spend $100 or more each month on some bullshit cable service!

Certain, and actually these days MOST, Blu-Ray players also come with built in streaming capabilities.  We’re talking apps that stream FREE movies, music, a YouTube app which you can search anything you wish, movie trailers, you name it.

Back when I actually had cable television I often found myself laying around, being an absolute bum, “channel surfing.”  Every now and then I do catch a show these days, but let me tell you, not often at all.  In the last month for example, I can’t recall one television show which I have watched.  These days I limit myself to certain podcasts & YouTube content, all with the intent of learning things to help grow and enhance my business.

The only service I do still pay for is Netflix.  I don’t do the streaming, as to me that’s just another way to hold yourself back.  I simply get one DVD/Blu-Ray at a time in the mail, and enjoy those with my girlfriend.  She is still a big consumer of content, and really enjoys watching “crime shows,” again something I don’t get, but I realize I can’t change everyone completely!  However we do save the money as she’s smart enough to watch those via their websites!  Thanks to Netflix we save even more money as we hardly ever go to movie theaters anymore, we just simply wait for them to be released on Blu-Ray which these days doesn’t take too long.  A good example is the last movie we watched, “The Dark Knight Rises.”  Netflix also offers television shows on DVD/Blu-Ray, and a good example of that is our favorite show, and pretty much the only one we watch together, “Dexter.”

My intention of this blog post is again not to bash ANYONE, but simply attempt to help some understand what I consider to be their “mistakes.”  If you cancel your cable, you will save tons of money, and as long as you have an Internet service you will still be able to obtain the same content.  Not even to mention the fact that you won’t be getting the media’s propaganda shoved down your throats, but that’s another blog all together!

As far as sports, I do realize I am in the minority, but based on the simple facts of what I have been able to accomplish because of not watching them, I feel the need to share my opinions.  If you are a die hard sports fan I don’t expect this blog to change that one bit.  I do however hope it helps you realize exactly WHY you aren’t achieving certain goals, why you THINK you don’t have enough time to accomplish things, and to simply HOPE it helps some stop complaining and blaming other causes or people!

In closing, YOUR problem as to why your dreams aren’t being reached, get this, is most likely YOU!

One last little piece of motivation thanks to my man Gary Vaynerchuk (@GaryVee)

To Share, or Not To Share… THAT Is The Question.

I’m writing this blog post right now for several reasons.  One is to simply help a friend or two, and the other is, of course, to hopefully help many.  The ones who actually take the time to read this, in my mind, are the ones who deserve to learn everything they are about to learn, and know everything they are about to know.  For those that aren’t aware there is an AWESOME community on YouTube known as the “Picking Community” which it gives me great pride to say that I am a part of, and feel that I’ve done a lot for.  In fact, there are TONS of different communities on YouTube.  Anything from this community which I mentioned, to toy communities, gaming communities, fashion communities, car communities, you name it.

Today while browsing one of my favorite “top secret” groups on Facebook I came across a post from a good friend mentioning the long-brought up topic of whether it’s actually good or not to “share” as much information as we do on YouTube.  In the “Picking Community” this relates to what things you can buy to make the best profits, where to shop, outlets to sell in, ways to build a customer base, and the list goes on.  As for the other communities you can take this information and mold it to suit the needs/make sense overall.

YOUTUBElogoBLOG

For those that don’t know for over two years now I’ve released a wide variety of vintage/antique buying/selling videos.  Many of those shared TONS of valuable content.  A lot of them are what we ‘Tubers call “haul videos,” in which we show some of our latest finds, mention what we paid, what we expect to get, and so on.  Some others shared places I’ve “picked” for junk, tips on where/how I sell, and more recently a lot of my videos have took a turn to feature more of an entertainment/fun side, while still providing valuable content and lots of buying and selling tips.

Now first off let’s get something straight.  I’m a businessman first and foremost.  I’m a great guy.  A very nice guy, and that’s not just me blowing my own horn.  Many have told me so.  However I don’t do ANYTHING on the Internet without the intent of continually growing it to meet certain needs of my business.  For me when it comes to YouTube I truly do LOVE the interaction with not only my fans, but of course my fellow “Picking Community” contributors who are out buying and selling, and posting videos right alongside me.  First off I monetize every video using Google Adsense, and in pretty much EVERY video I’ve ever released you hear me say one thing almost religiously… “What’s going on everybody? Brent here, OUnitProductions.com.”

Now believe me you, this isn’t because I have a stutter or don’t have anything better to say.  That little sentence leads to views towards my website, which in turn leads to advertising revenue via Google Adsense banners, Amazon banners, Amazon referral sales, merchandise sales, and OF COURSE sales in all my retail outlets such as eBay, Etsy, and all of my antique mall booths.  Not to mention the links on my website which lead to my other websites/blogs/sources of revenue.  This is the Internet, and if you know what you are doing, and you follow along closely in new ways to monetize which are constantly expanding and changing, you can make a very profitable living and continuously grow your passive income to the point where it can eventually take over your other avenues of income.

I absolutely LOVE buying and selling.  As I mentioned I still sell on eBay, Etsy, my co-op booths, and in 2013 I am going to be introducing several new outlets for the sale of physical goods.  Some of these will actually be popping up as soon as this coming week.  However, of course the ultimate goal for anyone who knows anything about business is to generate more income based on less work.  THAT is where I am headed in 2013 and beyond, and that is what I would love to help as many of you as I possibly can also achieve.

To bring this all back to where we started, here’s the bottom line.  It’s fine to share.  There’s nothing wrong with simply putting out content showing others what you know, what you have done, and how they could potentially do it.  The keyword there is “potentially.”  Some people will be able to reach the same level of success that you may have in your particular area, but the honest truth is the majority of people are so incredibly lazy that they won’t even take the first step regardless of how simple that first step may be.  Most people will just watch and hate, or be again what we ‘Tubers call “trolls.”  They’ll do their best to bring you down simply because they don’t have to balls to take the first chance or step to reach their ultimate goals.

Another HUGE factor in this all is that you should NEVER show anyone EVERYTHING.  I feel that over the years I’ve shared a lot of valuable information with my viewers.  However I can honestly say I’ve probably shared less than 20%, IF THAT, of everything I know and have learned about the resale business and especially Internet marketing.  Shit, to this day, EACH day I still learn something new.  I’m constantly learning.  That’s something that you should never stop doing.

Whether you are a part of this great “Picking Community” on YouTube, or ANY other community on ANY other platform for that matter, NEVER share everything, and NEVER put out content without first figuring out how you plan on monetizing that content.  You can of course do Google Adsense if you are on YouTube, but you really have to think deeper than that.  This year I am launching a new YouTube show/podcast known as “Project X.”  With this project I will be showcasing a lot of what I learned and am continuing to learn.  I am actually also in the process of writing a book which will hopefully be out by the end of 2013.  I plan on using my YouTube audience, and for that matter EVERY audience I have carefully built on each Social Media platform, to push those projects even further.

If you are putting out the YouTube videos to monetize in the first place, why not take it to the next level?  Perhaps you could write a book containing all that knowledge you have, and use a portion of your YouTube videos to promote that.  Perhaps you could add Amazon referral links into your YouTube videos.  There are MANY other avenues of potential monetization that so many people just don’t know about, or simply don’t think about when it comes to YouTube videos.  In 2013, for example, I also plan to do a lot more sponsorship deals with both my website & YouTube channel, and as you grow your audience that’s another huge resource that can be tapped into.

With this new year I have also launched something I am calling “How-To Hustle Hangouts Consultations,” which was mentioned in my first blog post of the year right here on this blog.  In these I am going very in-depth in a one-on-one setting in regards to a lot of the things I brought up in this post, but in way more detail.  If you would like more information on these consultations simply email brent@ounitproductions.com

Welcome 2013! Beginning Today NEW BLOG EVERY DAY of the YEAR! Also an Announcement!

It’s now OFFICIALLY 2013! I thank you for checking out BrentOtt.com today and I wanted to announce a few new & special things I am doing this year. First off, EACH AND EVERY DAY of the year I’ll be posting AT LEAST one new blog entry per day right here on this blog! Some of these will be in-depth posts regarding a variety of business ideas, etc, some will be EXCLUSIVE video content, sometime it may be just an exclusive photograph or even a re-post of an Instagram shot, you name it. On certain days I’ll simply post more funny or inspiring content. In 2013 you just never know what you may see here on BrentOtt.com!

As of today I also want to announce for the first time something I’m pretty excited about. Beginning in 2013 I’m going to begin doing one-on-one consultations with certain people.  I’m in constant contact with  people who would love to really “pick my brain” a bit more, and get some of the tips and tidbits I have in regards to building a successful online business, buying and selling antiques & junk, Social Media, building and maintaining a website, you name it.

Through my “Trash Talk & Treasures” show, my main website OUnitProductions.com, my YouTube Channel in general, and all over Social Media I’ve been able to build a very profitable Internet presence, which I’d love to be able to help people reach for who desire to do so.  I give out a lot of valuable FREE tips & tidbits but I’m not “Boo Boo Da Fool,” I never give out everything. Beginning this year I want to teach more, and share more, and the best way for me to be able to do this and truly go FULL FORCE will be these one-one-one consultations.

These won’t be starting up for a few months, but if you are interested I want to give you the option to sign up early because I’m sure the slots will fill up fast. With running my businesses I’ve only got so much “free time” to go around, as I’m sure you can imagine.  I’ve already been approached as I said about these, which is really where this is all coming from. So here’s the deal, you’ll be able to either book a simple, one-time consultation, or if you really want to go hard I’ll be offering a 10 hour course.  We’ll begin with going over your background, where you want to be, your dreams, your goals, and I’ll help to customize a unique business plan for each client who sets up a consultation or takes the course.  We’ll go over setting up your site, promoting it via Social Media, tips on what TO BUY & what NOT TO BUY to resell, selling outlets you NEED to be using, what’s coming out this year, TONS of inside information you’ll be getting or hearing NOWHERE else!

google-plus-hangouts

These will be done via PRIVATE Google Hangouts. The one-time ONE HOUR CONSULTATION will be $100, and the 10-hour spread out course will be $750.  I promise you guys there’s going to be some killer stuff thrown into both the consultation and the course so I’m looking forward to getting in contact with you guys to set something up! Another cool thing is these will be completely customizable based on where you are in the business, your goals, etc…

Besides these fun consultations and courses 2013 is going to be FILLED with fun stuff happening in my business life.  “Trash Talk & Treasures” will continue to grow and airs EACH AND EVERY Monday & Tuesday night at 7:30 PM EST on YouTube, “Project X” will be launching on YouTube in 2013, and another little thing brewing on the back burner is a book which will HOPEFULLY be dropping as early as the END of 2013!

My eBay & Etsy presence will increase in 2013, all three of my co-op booths will continue, I truly believe 2013 is going to be a groundbreaking year on many levels!!!!

Fun times lie ahead!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and STAY TUNED right here to BrentOtt.com for TONS of excitement and exclusive content!
